Jimmy Colin Farrish, 85, of Castle Rock, Washington, passed away on December 29, 2022 in Morton, WA, at Love & Care Adult Family Home. Jimmy, known as Jim, was born in Lewiston, Idaho, on June 3, 1937 to Hazel and Colin Farrish. Jim grew up in the Palouse (eastern Washington) and went on to attend WSU, graduating in Veterinary Medicine.
In 1966 Jim married Susan Lague in Pullman, Washington. He worked as a veterinarian for over 56 years. After marrying, he lived and worked in southern California, even working a brief stint as a relief vet for the Los Angeles Zoo, until the early 70’s and then began private practice in Klamath Falls, Oregon, before moving to Eureka, Montana. In the late 80’s, Jim worked as a large animal veterinarian for the Province of Alberta, Canada in Fort Vermillion AB for several -50 degree winters before returning to Washington State in the early 90’s, where he opened a veterinary clinic in Morton and Mossyrock.
Jim divorced in the mid 90’s and relocated to Winlock, Washington, then for the last 17 years, he operated a small animal vet clinic in Castle Rock, WA. He was 85 and still seeing patients in his Castle Rock vet clinic up until his hospitalization for advancing kidney disease in July 2022. Jim enjoyed landscaping, reading, and spending time with his dog. He loved horse racing, was a devout WSU Cougar fan, and he never missed a football season.
Jimmy is survived by his four children, Samantha, Thomas, Peter, and Andrew; brother, Bob; sister, Sandra; and his two grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
