Thomas Brown Withers

THOMAS BROWN WITHERS, age 88 of Morristown, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 28, 2014 at Heritage Nursing Home. He was a member of Cherokee Hills Baptist Church. He was a Navy veteran serving during WWII. He retired from American Enka as a Master Machinist with 43 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Withers; parents, Thomas and Maude Withers, 1 sister and 3 brothers. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Long and husband Danny of Morristown; sons, Tom “Jody” Withers and wife Ginger of Talbott and James Withers of Nashville; grandchildren, Laura Sheppard of Morristown, Wyl Withers of Morristown, Heather Withers and friend Jacob Merook of Morristown; great granddaughter, India Rose Merook; sister, Kate Gibbons of Talbott; special friend and caregiver, Susan Harris of Morristown and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Cherokee Hills Baptist Church with the Rev. Nathan Livingston officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the service at the Church. There will be a private interment. Pallbearers will be Robert “Bud” Courtney, Tom Derry, Mike Johns, Brian Blair, Gary Surface, Edward Beckner and Wyl Withers. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cherokee Hills Baptist Church building fund 1125 Peck Ave. Morristown, TN 37813. Stubblefield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
