Louise E. Smith, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and matriarch, tragically passed away in a sudden car accident on April 9, 2025, at the vibrant age of 74. Born on July 15, 1950, in Hawkins County, TN, Louise embodied the very spirit of love and strength, deeply anchored in her faith and connection to the Holy Spirit.
Throughout her life, Louise dedicated herself to nurturing her family and instilling values of
love, kindness, and fairness. As the heart of the Smith family, she was a guiding light - a beacon,
offering wisdom, support, encouragement, and, when needed, a gentle nudge of tough love to her
children and grandchildren. Her home was a sanctuary, a gathering place for family celebrations
filled with laughter, warmth, and the delightful aroma of her legendary Southern cooking.
A radiant spirit, Louise spent countless hours brightening the lives of those around her,
effortlessly making friends wherever she ventured. Her compassionate heart reached out to those
in need, and her commitment to spreading joy and hope inspired everyone fortunate enough to
know her. With a foundation of unwavering faith, she was the voice of reason and a wellspring of
wisdom for every situation.
Louise is survived by her children: Trenia Cooper, Kenneth Smith, Elizabeth Russel, Mary
Gulley, and Brent Smith; her sister Dorothy Marsh and two brothers - Fred and Herbert Barrett;
brother-in-law Shelby Smith; and sister-in-law Judy Smith; and her cherished grandchildren in
no particular order Chloe, Preston, Payton (little Bella), Andrew, Brandon, Ang, Travis, Jessica,
Kayla, and Tyler, and her cherished great grandchildren, Trinity, Serenity, Charity, Divinity and Natalie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear
friends. To continue to list all the great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews would turn this into a
beautiful book. She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-four years, Charles G. Smith
and her son Joshua Smith.
A celebration of Louise's Remarkable life will be held at her home in Mooresburg, TN, where
friends and family are invited to share their memories and honor her enduring legacy. The details
of which will be released at a later date.
As it is written in the scriptures, “For to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”
– 2 Corinthians 5:8 (KJV).
Louise E. Smith will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered for her boundless love, faith, and the indelible mark she left on the hearts of all who knew her.
