Lorene D. (Long) Hayes, age 88, of Morristown, TN, went to be with the Lord and her beloved husband, on January 12, 2023 at Jefferson Park Skilled Nursing Care in Dandridge after declining health due to dementia. She was saved at a young age, and she held onto her faith until the very end of life.
Lorene was a devoted Wife, Mom, Nana and a dedicated member of Shady Grove Free Will Baptist Church of Whitesburg for more than 60 years until the declining health of she and her husband no longer would allow them to attend.
Lorene was preceded in death her her husband of 64 years: J.D. Hayes; parents: Calvin B. Long and Mary Eunav (Buchanan) Long; her sister: Lola Long Newman and her two brothers: Jimmy N. Long and Charles B. Long, and sister-in-law: Mary Belle Long.
Lorene is survived by her two children and their spouses: Billy (Linda) Hayes; Kim (Kevin) Nelson, and the joy of her life, her granddaughter, Kelsey Nelson, along with several nieces and nephews, and other relatives, church family and an array of friends.
A special Thank you to the staff at Jefferson Park for taking such remarkable care of our mom until the end. Mom would always tell us that she was safe, had three good meals a day, and they take such good care of me. Thank you to Smoky Mountain Hospice for helping us get through the rough days.
The family will receive friends at Stubblefield Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Funeral services will follow in the chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home at 7:00 PM with Rev. Donnie Myers officiating. Family and friends will neet in Hamblen Memory Gardens at 2:00 PM on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023 for a graveside service.
