JOHN WAYNE McCRACKEN, age 73 of Morristown, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at James H. Guillen V.A. Medical Center. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving two tours of duty in Veitnam. He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He also retired from Ryder. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Angeline McCracken; brother, Jimmy McCracken and 1 nephew.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ida Fay McCracken; daughter, Tammy Sapp and husband Gerald of Morristown; 1 granddaughter, Emily Fay Sapp; sister, Betty Holder and husband Donald of Whitesburg; sister-in-law, Tig Holloway and husband Tommy of Morristown; brother-in-law, Jerry Ivy and wife Jean of Morristown; special friend, Mary Ivy of Morristown several nieces, nephews and many close friends and neighbors.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 6 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, July 7 and go in procession to Hamblen Memory Gardens for a 1:00 p.m. Military graveside service with Tennessee National Guard Honor Guard and Mr. Ben Brotherton officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be; Tommy Holloway, Ted Long, Jeremy Davis, Ken Winstead, Don Holder and Gerald Sapp. Arrangements by Stubblefield Funeral in Morristown.
