Jimmy Lyle Massey, 71 of Morristown, formerly of Warrensburg, passed away at his home Saturday, June 21, 2014, after his battle with cancer. He retired from the C. F. Group, formerly known as Shelby Williams, after 32 years of service. Mr. Massey was a gentle man who loved his family and enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, and NASCAR racing. He enjoyed sitting on his back porch feeding his squirrels and wild turkeys. In his earlier years, he was an accomplished softball player. He was the son of the later Lloyd Ray Massey and Verna Lee Massey. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Jimmy Lyle Massey Jr., stepson, Johnny Denton; and sister, Elizabeth Southerland.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 30 years, Clorene Massey; son, Joseph (Lisa Brockwell) Massey; grandson, Andrew Starnes; granddaughter, Joie Cheyenne (Tyler Reeves) Massey and Stacie Massey; brother, Ike Massey; special sister-in-law, Geraldine Seal; nephews, Marty (Melissa Shipley) Southerland, Rodney Southerland, and Scott Massey; great-nieces, Jessica Southerland and Savanna Southerland; and great-nephews, Zackery Massey and Jeremy Southerland.
Funeral services will be held at Stubblefield Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 25th at 8:00 p.m. Family and friends will gather on Thursday morning at 10:45 a.m. in Hamblen Memory Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service. Pallbearers will be: Richard Ford, Tony Hoover, Jerry Miller, Carl Russell, Greg Seal, Larry Sluder, and Cecil Ward. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the services.
