Janice Roper Owens

Born 03/30/1943 in Loyall, KY - Died 09/13/2017 in Morristown, TN

Born Janice Faye Roper to parents Albert and Mabel, she was one of nine children and was preceded in death by Albert and Mabel as well as five siblings. In 1963 on March 8, Jan married Glenn Owens of Yancey, KY. She had two sons, Scott and Ben. Jan loved being with family, bragging about her grandkids, and seeing the grand-dogs. Jan loved and served her Lord Jesus. Jan found some of her greatest joy working and serving others through Appalachian Outreach. At 10:45 pm, Wednesday September 13, 2017, Jan went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Survived by her loving husband: Glenn A. Owens and her sons Scott and Ben Owens; her daughter-in-law, Valerie Owens; and her grandchildren, Hunter and Haley Owens; her siblings, Glenda Anderson, Betty Simpson and husband Gary, Curt Roper and wife Judy. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and so many special friends.

Services are to be held at her home church, Manley Baptist Church on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Receiving of friends will be from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm prior to the service with Rev. Tony Buchanan officiating. In lieu of flowers, Jan requests that you make donations to the Manley Baptist Church building fund. Arrangements are by Stubblefield Funeral Home.
