Edward A. Brooks, age 71, of Morristown, went home to be with the Lord peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. He was born in Rogersville on May 18, 1948. Ed was a proud veteran, having served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict, and a civil servant enthusiastically serving his country and its citizens. He was the first graduate from WSCC’s Fire Technology School. He retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority where he was a law officer for 16 ½ years. Preceding him in death was his mother, Lula Bell Rohr Brooks; father, Joseph Earl Brooks; sisters, Shirley Faul and Kay Chandler; brother, Harold G Brooks; and father and mother-in-law, Con and Effie Mae Seay.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Linda J Seay-Brooks; daughter and special son-in-law, Angela Y. and Glenn McAbee; grandchildren, Austin S Brooks and Amanda B McAbee; sister, Elsie Bowles; brothers, JE Brooks and Richard Brooks; special brother-in-law, Dean W Swatzell; and sister-in-law, Blanche Britt; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at Cedar Grove Cemetery on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Ronnie Knight officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects at the funeral home Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
