

Dexter L Morris of Morristown passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025. Dexter was born in McKee, KY, on January 18, 1944. He moved to Morristown, TN, with his family after a distinguished career in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant.
During his 20 years in the Air Force, Dexter served three tours in Vietnam and was highly decorated. He was awarded the Airman's Medal for Valor when he rescued several fellow soldiers from a burning truck, saving their lives but putting his own life at risk.
Dexter was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Elida Morris, his father and stepmother Vinson and Janet Morris, mother and stepfather Duane & Mary Buckingham, brothers Paul Morris, Joby Buckingham, and Duane Morris.
Dexter is survived by daughters, Jackie (Marty) Bumgardner & Sharon (Patrick) Moore. His son, Dexter Morris, Jr. all of Morristown. Grand Children, Rachel (Dustin) Cameron, Aaron Moore, Shawn Morris, Madisson (Lucas) Poe, Caleb (Eve) Moore, Kamarin Morris & Jack Morris. 5 great Grandchildren. Two brothers and one sister, Tommy (Sharon) Buckingham of Morristown, Phil (Marty)Morris of Reddick, Florida, and Melissa (Lester) Sellers of Morristown, TN. Dexter also had a special friend, Vivian Moore from Bull Gap.
The family would like to extend a special Thank you to Jefferson Health & Rehabilitation and Gentiva hospice for the care and comfort provided in Dexter's last days.
Stubblefield Funeral Home will oversee the arrangements with full military honors. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 pm at Stubblefield Funeral Home with services to follow. Rev. Don Lamb officiating. Graveside service will be Tuesday at 11:00 am at Hamblen Memory Gardens.
