Debbie Lynn Adkins, age 65, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 9, 2021. Debbie was a crafter, quilter, and a great visionary in all she did. She was a great friend, a proud and much-loved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and mother-in-law.
She was born to George and Earnestine Hensley on June 17, 1956 in Man, West Virginia, where she grew up with her brothers, Gary and Larry Hensley, as well as her sister, Paula (Donnie) Myers. Debbie and the love of her life for 50 years, Gary, moved to Tennessee in 1972, where they raised their three children, Tony Adkins, Steven (Tricia) Adkins and Amanda (Kelvin) McMahan. Eventually, they welcomed their 14 grandkids and two great-grandkids, who were her pride and joy.
A true lover of Christ, Debbie attended the First Independent Freewill Baptist Church in Bean Station for more than 30 years. She enjoyed sharing the love of Jesus and singing with others and praying for them whenever she could.
Over the years, Debbie made a host of friends, all that she cared for deeply. She recently retired after 38 years of service from Cherokee Health Systems, where the majority of her friendships were made. Her CHS friends were more like family to her.
Debbie’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home. Rev. Michael Elkins will officiate the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
