He worked for Cas Walker for twenty six years, he was the owner of Whitesburg Market and started Hurst Trucking Company.
He loved watching U.T. Vol's, working with horses and his Jack Russell named Jodi. Charles was of the Baptist Faith. Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Pauline Hurst, parents; Claude and Irene Hurst and brother; Bob and Eddie Hurst.
He is survived by his children; Sherry, Chuck and Jeff Hurst. Grandchildren; Angie, Stacy, Amy, Taran, Karsey and Chris. As well as several great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family of Mr. Hurst will receive friends on Wednesday, Sept. 29, at noon until 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Paul Chapman officiating. Interment will be at Hamblen Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALPS or the Boys and Girls Clubs.
