Gary was born on August 6, 1945 to E.F. Fowler and Sybil Cross Fowler (Harville). He was a graduate of Morristown High School and Carson Newman College. He was a History teacher in the Virginia area for a few years. When he moved back to Tennessee, he worked at Plumley Rubber Company in Morristown, Kingston-Warren in Church Hill, and as a security guard before he retired several years ago.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents E.F. Fowler and Sybil Harville, step-father Troy Harville. Siblings: Hugh Gerald Fowler (infant brother), Joy Moody, Jean Denton, Mack Fowler, and Don Fowler; Step-brothers Bill and David Harville; and Son-in-law, Brian Marcum.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 45 years, Una Faye (Janeway) Fowler and Daughter, Holly (Pless) Cline. Son, Christopher Fowler; Daughters, Rebecca Marcum, Charlotte Leach, and Kim (Tim) Devotie and their mother Terry Braden. Grandchildren, Trevor (Natalie) Cline, Gregory (Alexis) Cline, Chris (Brittney) Marcum, Charley (Rachel) Marcum, Hunter (Devin) Marcum, Ashley Branson (Chris Rupell), Dennis Leach III, Rusty Talley, and TJ Devotie, Great-Grandchildren, Maverick, Nash and Oliver Cline; Chloe, Elijah, Elliott and Melody Marcum; Tristan Hickle and Adeline Rupell.
Services will be held at Stubblefield Funeral Home on Friday, January 19th with Pastor Tony Buchanan officiating. The family will receive friends from 12-2 with the funeral service at 2:00pm in the chapel. Burial will immediately follow the services in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
