He leaves the love of his life Connie Sue Ratliff, married 54 years; his son Mitchell Rose (Donna) of Mahomet, Illinois; his daughter Krista Crum (Jeffrey) of Morristown, Tennessee; his son Michael Rose of Bean Station, Tennessee. He also leaves seven Grandchildren; Kira Mulvany (Kirk), Noelle Rose Tabor (Matthew), Rachel D. Crum, Aaron Crum, Macey Rose, Stella Rose, Zach Rose, and four Great Grandchildren; Alexa, Jillian, and Quinn Mulvany and Liam Tabor. He is also survived by one brother, Sammie Rose (Janice), of Elkhorn City, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his father Lundy Rose, mother Gay Rose, and sister Imogene Cantrell.
Ray was born and raised in Elkhorn City, Kentucky. The past 24 years were spent in Bean Station, Tennessee. In his early years, Ray was an accomplished athlete and businessman. He worked in and owned coal mines for 27 years. Ray worked at Colortech, Inc. for 17 years as a maintenance manager. His hobbies were beekeeping, fishing, farming, writing, storytelling, and helping friends and neighbors with various building projects.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Grant officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1:50 p.m. on May 1, 2011 in the First Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Bean Station for a 2:00 p.m. graveside service. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 30, 2011 from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Arrangements by Stubblefield Funeral Home in Morristown, Tennessee.
