William Pinkney Beam Jr. (Bubba), of Morganton departed this world on August 15, 2018 after a lengthy illness. Born October 3, 1929 in Lincolnton, North Carolina to the late William Pinkney Beam Sr. and Viola Cherry Byers. He spent most of his childhood in the New York and Washington, DC areas. After settling in Morganton, he married Nora Bruce Avery Caldwell and became a member of Willow Tree AME Church. He was a Steward and cared about the structure of the church donating clocks, and repairing chairs. He recently donated handmade chairs for pastoral use. He was a loyal member of Queen of the West Chapter 70 Masonic Order.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nora Avery Beam of 34 years, a brother Benjamin Beam, sisters, Catherine Brooks, Jane Herndon, Laura Walker and Morning Bailey, a son John Wilson, a grandson, Jimmy Jackson Jr. and a granddaughter Danielle Coulter.
He is survived by a daughter, Patsy Jackson (Jimmy) of Lincolnton, NC, a daughter Jennifer Johnson (James) of Charlotte, NC, a son William Coulter (Renee) of Lincolnton, NC, a daughter Jean Beam Pearson, and a son Kelvin Maurice Beam (Daphne) both of Morganton, NC, a sister-in-law, Bertha Avery of Morganton, 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
