Waldene Cox Berry

Mrs. Waldene “Doris” Cox Berry, 82, of Tega Cay, SC, formerly of Morganton, passed away, Tuesday, January 21, 2014. Born August 14, 1931, in Burke County, she was a daughter of the late Oehler Cox and Hettie Lee Brown Cox. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Berry was also preceded by her husband of 52 years, Ned Bernard Berry, Sr., four brothers, Zenny, Oehler , Jr, Garvel and Clifton Cox and four sisters, Inez Roper, Katherine Cox and Mozelle Cox, Wanza Cox and Kaye Dunning. Mrs. Berry attended the North Morganton United Methodist Church. She worked for 51 years at Bell South until her retirement.

Mrs. Berry will be lovingly remembered by a son, Bernard Berry, of Morganton;

A daughter, Susan Berry Francum & husband James, of Lexington, SC;

and a sister, Nannie Lou Greene, of Hickory.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Berry will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, January 27, 2014, at the North Morganton First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Burke Memorial Park, Morganton. The family will receive friends 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Kirksey Funeral Home, Morganton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Berry’s memory to the North Morganton United Methodist Church, Morganton, NC.
