Give all the honor and praise to our most Holy God! How many people really knew this woman? Few people knew her very well; but to her immediate family, she was the “rock.” Daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all, whatever their needs. Ruby’s home was always open and available. Ruby was a lifelong member of the Hartland Church of God. She had many friends and close family members in the Community and was quite active all her life.
Ruby Evelyn Johnson Pearson was born August 2nd, 1930 in Burke County North Carolina. Our Heavenly Father returned for this beloved “sister “and she entered into the joy of the Lord on July 25th 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward P. Pearson; a beloved son: Walter Ray Johnson; a great grandson, Cameron McRae; her father and mother: Enoch Johnson and Fanny Clark Johnson; Seven brothers:, Ed Johnson; Ine Johnson; Roy Johnson; Manley Johnson; McDonald Johnson; Walter Johnson and Cleve Johnson; and four sisters: O’Neil Johnson , Addie J. Corpening; Sarah Jane Kincaid; and Mary Johnson; a nephew: Billy Corpening. She was a member of the Hartland Church of God, The Golden Gospel Choir, and the American Legion Post Ladies Auxiliary. Ruby worked at Bernhardt Furniture for 11 years, Drexel Heritage for 23 years, and for G.B. Propst for 15 years.
Ruby Pearson leaves to cherish a lifetime of beautiful memories; her children Colonel (retired) Larry Johnson and his wife Theresa of Kernersville, NC; Gary Johnson and his wife Gail of Lenoir, NC; Paula Corpening and her husband Larry of Morganton NC; Paul Johnson of Morganton, NC and Elmer P. Pearson of Gastonia, NC; a sister, Alice Dula of Lenoir, NC; a brother, Alexander Johnson of Morganton NC; a daughter-in-law, Betsy Johnson of Asheboro, NC ; Four sister-in-laws; Cora Lee Johnson, Annie Johnson and Thelma Johnson of Morganton NC; Louvenia Pearson of Bronx, NY; a brother-in-law; Joe Pearson of Bronx, NY. She also leaves behind twelve grandchildren and eighteen great- grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Pearson will be held Friday, July 30, 2010 at 1:00PM at Kirksey Funeral Home Chapel in Morganton with Reverend Dr. Venoy Pearson and Reverend Eugene Kincaid officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, July 30, 2010 from 11:00AM to 12:45PM at Kirksey Funeral Home in Morganton.
Burial will follow at Johnson Family Cemetery.
