Robert B. Johnson

Robert “Bob” Johnson, age 82, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019 after four years of declining health. Bob was born the son of the late Jete Johnson and Louise Hughes Johnson on October 21, 1936 in Avery County.

Bob served his country honorably in the Army and was a member of the 504th Military Police, and was retired from Drexel Heritage Furniture. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed.

Along with his parents, Bob is preceded in death by a daughter Terri L. Johnson; and two sisters, Bernice and Nell.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 60 years, Betty Jo Burleson Johnson of the home; two sons, Ronnie Johnson and his wife Karen of Lenoir and Robbie Johnson and his wife Melanie of Valdese; two daughters, Angie Pyatte and her husband Scott of Valdese and Tonya Johnson and her life partner Teal Devlin of Hickory; nine grandchildren, Tyler, Bradley, Tony, Heather, Kelly, Jordan, Shaylee, Hannah and Breanna; 14 great grandchildren; a brother, Bruce Johnson of Newland; a sister, Marylou Banner of Linville; and two special dogs, Baby Luv and Tinker Bell.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
