I had Miss Wise on my mind this week. Had no ideal she had took her walk to Heaven. My name was Debra Carroll at the  time I met Miss Wise. You see I was one of her girls at South Mountain. She was a kind and sweet lady.. but could really get sturn if you were miss behaving. She was love by all of us. I will cherish my time and life with her. Miss wise work so hard for us girls and never complained! I love you Miss wise. You have earned your wings! Debra Carroll Dunlap

Miss Myrtle was one special lady. Her memory will live on the hearts and minds of hundreds and hundreds of children now turned adults whom she cared for and loved. As well as in the hearts of those of us who were lucky enough to work with her for so many years.  God speed Miss Myrtle and thank you for your dedication!

Miss Myrtle welcomed me to Southmountain Children and Family Services with open arms and a smile nearly 24 years ago. I loved to hear her stories about Southmountain from years before and going through loads of photos from the early days. She was a special lady and will be greatly missed. 

Ms. Myrtle taught me by example when I was starting out as a social worker. She was dedicated, humble, firm but kind, strong, consistent, wise and loving. She seemed to have a gift in working with every special need. I recall her gentle voice now, although it's been decades since I worked with her at Southmountain. She lives on in the positive differences she made. Rest in peace, Ms. Myrtle. Your walk was long, but oh so meaningful.

Ms. Wise was so special to me and my family when we attended Oak Grove Baptist Church.

miss myrtle was a wonderful christian woman everyone that knew her loved her. i know she is flying with angels now 

We (Gene, Doris, Faye a.k.a. Mom) picked Myrtle up every Wed. and Sunday and rode to church together. One time we were going to a Christmas Benefit for S.M.C.H.  and did not know the way. Myrtle insisted we were going the right way by the sounds on the road. I was driving and listening to Myrtle's directions. We ended up on a "dead-end" road at the water plant. We finally re-grouped and found our way. Had a wounderful time and many, many laughes over that experience. Loved Myrtle very much and missed her the last few years.

My whole family loved Ms. Myrtle. Before she lost her sight she played piano at church.  She would look in the mirrored back of the piano to see if any of her "children" were misbehaving.  
She was a true friend to my grandmother Faye Edwards.  Ms. Myrtle and Faye taught Sunday School class for years and taught many children the Lord's Prayer, the 24th Psalm and the books of the Bible. 
 My two boys Eli and Andrew loved to "help" Ms. Myrtle into the church by carrying her bible or holding her arm as she climbed the steps.  My prayers are with the family during this time of grief.
