Michael James Cairaway

Michael James Cairaway, went home to be with the Lord and reunite with his family at 12:47 pm on April 30 2023 at 72 years old. He was born in Asheville North Carolina and raised in Black Mountain. He was the son of the late Jim Cairaway and Carrie Cairaway.

Michael was a loving son, brother, father, papaw, and friend. He was a very kind and compassionate person who would help anyone he could; he cherished his family and all the time he spent with them. He told many stories, could always make you laugh, enjoyed being with family, playing the guitar, building cars, and made many friends along the way. He will forever be loved and missed by many.

Those left behind to cherish Michael's memory include a son Michael James Cairaway; a daughter, Carrie Ann Cairaway; a son in-law, Robert Hughes; and five grandchildren; Taylor Cairaway, Kailey Hughes, Madison Hughes, Raina Cairaway, and Tyler Hughes. Michael is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
