Martha Jane Wheeler

Martha “Jane” Wheeler, age 76, of Glen Alpine, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 12, 2013 at her residence and while being comforted by her loving family. Jane was born to the late James Harvey Graham and Hettie Pearl Dale Graham on April 28, 1937 in Burke County. Jane was a longtime member of Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Jane will be greatly missed.

Along with her parents, Jane is preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include her husband of 58 years, Carroll Wheeler of the home; three sons, Victor Wheeler and his wife, Kathy of Hickory, Brian Wheeler and his fiancé, Marsha Lyle of Glen Alpine, and Phillip Wheeler of Glen Alpine; two sisters, Frances Crawley and her husband, James of Salem and Mary “Joan” Jones of Drexel; and six grandchildren, Zach, Nathaniel, Brianna, Corey, Isaac, and Peyton Wheeler. Also surviving are numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church with Pastor Roger Brackett officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2:00 PM at the church.
