She was born on July 13, 1939, in Morganton to the late Gertha Alice Corpening Wilson, and her stepfather was the late Novella Wilson.
Mamie graduated from Olive Hill High School, Class of 1959. She went on to nursing school for a year in Durham, NC. She later moved to New York and recorded several demos in pursuit of becoming a professional singer.
On November 16, 1962, she married Roger Moore, and they later had one daughter, Yvette Moore.
She was a devoted member of the Hartland Church of God where she was a member of the gospel choir, church secretary, and a Sunday school teacher.
Mamie was employed by the Shadowline Company for 17 years. She later worked at Western Carolina Center in dietary for another 17 years where in 1997, she was a recipient of the Director of Excellence award.
Over the years, Mrs. Moore was involved in several organizations: Freedom High School Band Boosters (president), Eastern Stars-Ruth Chapter 571, Chesterfield Fire Department’s Women’s Auxiliary, and the American Legion Post 506.
Mamie is survived by her loving husband of over 54 years - Roger Moore, one daughter – Yvette Moore (Georgia); six brothers and sisters: Jonathan Corpening (Shirley) of NY, Joyce Johnson (Rev. James), Fred Corpening (Nancy), Jerry Corpening (Elizabeth), Brenda Burgess all of Morganton, and Alvin Corpening of Lenoir. Also, two special cousins: Al Corpening (Brenda) of Hickory, and Daniel Corpening (Charlene) of Charlotte, and a special nephew – Jonathan Corpening (Morganton). Also surviving are a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Mamie loved the Lord, her family, and having fun.

Services will be held at The Hartland Church of God at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, with Rev. James Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service (12-1 p.m.).
