Lucas Everett Taylor, age 8, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024. Lucas was born to Charles Rowland Taylor and Alyssa Mae Metsinger Conely on September 21, 2015 on Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland.
Lucas Everett Taylor was more than words could describe. His presence was always known and his destination marked as he fearlessly walked the earth searching for adventure, excitement, and new heights. He was smart, bold, funny, sweet, selfless, thoughtful, and above all, his own brand of greatness that only the name Lucas could contain. He loved to sing and was an avid performer in his own creative style of making up his own songs. When he wasn’t showing off his twerking dance moves or enjoying a mocha frappe, he was spending every waking moment inseparable to his big brother, Braden. Together, they stayed true to the old saying, “Boys will be boys.”
If no one else could, Lucas was confident and determined in every opportunity to proudly display, “Lucas can!” He was the kind of guy you handed the pickle jar to when the lid was too tight. He aspired to be a YouTuber, labeling his show, “Getting Lost with Lucas.” In these adventures, Lucas displayed all the wonder, excitement, and joy a boy could have. He aimed to inspire and educate others willing to go beyond the boundaries of the known. Lucas was well grounded and had a strong gift of understanding right from wrong at a young age. He was tough, brave, eager to protect others (especially his brothers), and clearly confident enough to display to the world the safety he could provide if you decided to get lost in the unknown with him. When he wasn’t outdoors doing what he loved most in exploring for salamanders, bugs, building forts, and capturing items most humans tend to stay away from, he enjoyed playing video games. He was the 8 year old gamer kid that was better than most adults at Fortnite, Call of Duty, Zelda, Apex Legends, and Minecraft to name a few. He loved the thrill of playing Pokémon and was a stiff negotiator on all proposed trade offers. Although tough on the outside, his heart was selfless and compassionate ensuring no one was left out of his reach. He was a born leader and being with him meant you better be ready to hold on and keep up, because he’s going with or without you. The world could not contain Lucas as his story on Earth came to a close too soon for all of us, but just in time for his Savior, Jesus, to wrap him up in love and let him know he is found for eternity in Heaven.
Lucas is preceded in death by his grandfather, Bruce Metsinger; grandparents, Tim and Trina Bond; three great grandmothers, Sharon Mayes, Juanita Metsinger and Norma Jean Adams; an uncle, Stephen Harrell; two great uncles, Albert Lee Taylor and Lawrence Seiber; and two cousins, Eli Harrell and Seth Martin.
