Loraine graduated from Hickory High School in Hickory, NC and completed her Bachelors Degree at Greensboro College in Greensboro, NC. Over the course of her life, she worked in various areas of government and legal affairs that included 10 years at the FBI, 35+ life insurance seminars held, and over 30 years at the Pension Benefit Guaranteed Corporation. Ever since she was a little girl, Loraine had always dreamed of being a successful public speaker which she accomplished through her work with Toastmasters. The skills she had acquired during her time at UMUC gaining her master’s degree and paralegal certification enabled her to make her dreams a reality and helped advance her role at PBGC. Loraine was always known for her charisma and hard work in the office, making many lifetime friends over the course of 35 years.
Loraine's energy was dynamic to those who knew her have their own stories to tell. She said what she meant and meant what she said. Although known as a hardworking woman, there was another side to her. Loraine had compassion. Those that had nowhere to go could always count on Loraine for an open ear and a warm hug. Outside of her time working in her younger years, she spent a lot of her leisure traveling. With 14 countries visited and over 18+ states, she really took being worldly and cultured to new heights.
Loraine spent her latter years being a homemaker. She cared for her mother and raised two beautiful children in Prince Georges County, MD being a cub scout mom, a swim mom, and a “hair” mom. She often found joy in her life acknowledging what she had accomplished.
She fully enjoyed her life and all the friends she made along the way. She made the time to show up for everyone who reached out, providing caring, trustworthy, and sound counsel always. She simply wanted to brighten lives in her days and smile, and she surely did. Joy permeated her, and laughter felt like it was her middle name.
Loraine will be surely missed.
