Annie Hice Johnson was born on July 18th, 1918 to the late Oather Hice and Mattie Davis Hice. She was the 3rd of 9 children. At the tender age of 23, she married her husband, the late Ine Johnson, Sr. They later became the parents of 6 beautiful children.
On January 27th, 2019 at Carolina Rehab she entered her eternal rest. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 48 years Ine Johnson Sr, a daughter Helen Johnson Bristol, a son Ine Johnson, Jr, a granddaughter Jennifer Bristol O’Banner, a grandson Fred Johnson, and 6 siblings.
Left to cherish her memory are her children; Elizabeth Corpening Stepps of Morganton, Kathleen Johnson of Morganton, Michael Johnson of Morganton, Mostella Johnson Calloway (the late Paul) of Morganton. A sister Erma Hice Smith of Johnson City, TN, and a brother Oather Hice of Jacksonville, FL. Also she is leaving behind her cherished and beloved 19 grandchildren, 38 great grandkids, 26 great-great grandkids, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
This is a loss to lots in the Hartland community to many that grew up playing in her yard and house. If there was a neighborhood communal house it was Momma Annie’s house, who didn’t mind at all to whip out a switch on any kid doing something wrong in her yard, whether it was her grandkids or anybody else’s in the community. She devoted her life to being a great wife, mother, grandmother, or great-grandmother, raising and taking care of her family and plenty of other kids as well. If you ever wonder why many of her grandkids like to be stylish dressers, we got honest from her. You could see her plenty of Sundays or days dressed to impress with her Sunday best dress or outfit and hat to match. To experience the changes of the evolving world for these past 100 years had to have been a rollercoaster of wonder with ups and downs, but through it all she prevailed and pressed on with the Lord at her side.
