James Boston Ervin II, age 69, of Morganton departed this life April 20, 2018 after months of declining health.
James was educated in the Baltimore, MD and NC school systems. James was a humanitarian and civic minded individual who helped ease the suffering children in impoverished communities. He saw a serious need to help nurture black kids in disenfranchised communities, they would spend about two hours each morning cooking breakfast for children in poor neighborhoods before school.
Mr. Ervin is survived by his wife Marjorie Shorter-Ervin Of Baltimore MD., daughter, Eyana Spencer, and grandson Josiah Spencer both of Oakland Calif. In addition to one aunt Mrs. Helen K. Ervin of Morganton, James is also survived by a step daughter Tia N. Good, along with a host of cousins and friends.
