home on March 4, 2020 after a 15 year courageous fight with Leukemia at CMC-Pineville.
Born in Burke County, July 4, 1943, he was the son of the late Clarence Williams and Naomi Glass Williams.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Caldwell
Williams, a daughter, Von DeLeath Williams, brothers, Richard and Clarence Williams, and a
grandson, Tyron Ervin, Jr.
Herbert graduated from Olive Hill High School and attended Morehouse College. He was a member of Gaston Chapel AME Church. Herbert proudly served his country in the US
Army during the Vietnam Conflict Era. Herbert was a die-hard LA Dodgers and Cleveland
Browns fan.
Herbert is survived by his sons, Sean Williams (Melissa) of Charlotte,
and Tyron Ervin (Sarnya) of Charlotte, a brother, Kenneth Williams (Margo) of Morganton, sister
in law, Linda Williams of Charlotte, grandsons, Evan Williams (Erica), and Edward Hickman of
Morganton, grandchildren Michelle, Eliza, Darsha, along with a host of nieces and nephews, friends and extended family.
Funeral services will be held at Gaston Chapel AME Church on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 1:00 pm with Rev McGlen officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Interment will follow the service at Burke Memorial Park.
