Helen Virgina Smith

She was born to the late Rev. Joseph D. E. Smith and Berta Lou Burgess Smith on March 31, 1934 in Burke Co.

Helen was an active member of Mt. Pisgah AME Church Philadelphia, where she served as a steward, member of the women's missionary society, and president of the usher board. In her professional life she was employed as a seamstress for over 30 years at Latrese and Duracell Boutique. She also enjoyed trips to the casino and bus excursions.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by 4 sisters Effie Mae Smith, Lou Berta Lambert, Mary Elizabeth Surratt, and Francis Smith, 5 brothers Charles, James, Alexander, Clifford, and Edward Smith.

Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter Dessiree Bristol (Gene) of the home, granddaughter; Starla Bristol, and 2 great grandchildren; Xzayvion and Kailoni Washburn. Also surviving include her brother; Johnny Smith (Della) and special friend Whalley Weatherby, alsong with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. at Hartland Church of God. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time at the church 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Olive Hill Cemetery. Senior Pastor Mitchell Brittain, Officiating.
