Our loving and all wise heavenly Father came for another of his children for eternal rest, Frances Reed Avery. Frances R. Avery of Morganton, NC passed away at Grace Heights Nursing Home, where she peacefully answered the call of the Lord on May 6, 2020.
Frances was born on August 5, 1946 in Columbia, South Carolina, to the late Earnest Reed and Frances Laury Reed. She attended Richland County Schools and graduated from Hopkins High School (SC) in 1965.
Frances was a member of Shiloh A.M.E Church, where she served as a past member of the Stewardess Board #1, Ladies Aide, and the Missionary Society.
Frances loved helping her husband with church functions and assist with fundraising for church functions.
Frances worked in various institutions in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and here in Morganton, NC. Frances worked for J. Iverson Riddle, Henredon, and Leviton in Morganton, NC.
Frances loved children and her favorite thing to do was to babysit and care for members of the community and church. The delight of her life was daughter Nicole and godson Zabian, niece Brittany, and her goddaughter Koffie
Along with her parents Frances was preceded in death by her siblings Robert Earl Laury, Hazel Lee Reed, Rosa E. Williams, and Easter Mae Richardson.
Frances leaves to mourn her precious memory to: her husband of 55 years Herman Douglas Avery, daughter Nicole Winsley, Godson, Zabian Jakes, niece; Brittany Avery, God-daughter; Coffie McKinney of Indiana, Sister-in-laws, Katie Ervin and Mildred Rankin, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, extended family and friends that loved her dearly, and special friends specifically that have been a tremendous support to her during her illness: Joan Ward, Jacqueline Kanipe, Evelyn Lingo, and Nina Ervin.
