November 8, 1947 - June 8, 2023
Emmett left his body to be with God on June 8, 2023.
He left behind his wife of 41 years, Pattie T. Brittain, a daughter, Teresa B Williams and
her husband Johnny Williams and a son, Alexander J. Brittain, a sister, Mable Brittain Bowers and her husband Ernest Lee Bowers, a brother, Richard C. Brittain and his wife Linda Brittain and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl J. Brittain and his mother, Annie C. Brittain, a brother, Manual J. Brittain and his wife, Eunice F. Brittain and a sister, Margaret Pugh, and her husband, Archie Pugh.
Emmett held a Masters’ degree in management and supervision from Michigan State University and when he retired from the State of North Carolina he decided to get an associate degree in nursing.
Emmett’s belief in God was strong and he had no fear of dying because it was a part of God’s plan. He was loved not only by his family but by many friends and his beloved church family. He was kind and gentle and will always be remembered as a wonderful husband and father.
A celebration of life will be officiated by Pastor Paul Carson at Calvary Lutheran Church, 119 North King Street, Morganton at 10:00am on Saturday, June 17, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Music Program at Calvary Lutheran Church.
