Elizabeth Webb Kincaid passed from her earthly home to her eternal home on Friday, November 24, 2023 at Grace Heights Nursing and Rehabilitation after a period of declining health. Lib, as she was affectionately known, was born in Morganton, NC on December 12,1936 to Marcus Pink and Louise Phillips Webb.
Lib was valedictorian of the 1955 graduating class at Salem High School. She worked as a secretary for the Burke County Public Schools superintendent’s office. She was also the secretary to Fred Cranford during the writing of the outdoor drama “From This Day Forward”, which is still being presented at the outdoor theater in Valdese, NC. She loved to proofread and was well known for her professionalism and dedication. Lib attended Calvin Heights Baptist Church (Bridge 42) for many years and was a Sunday school teacher until she became homebound.
Along with her parents, Lib was proceeded in death by the father of her children, James Norman Kincaid. A brother Steve Webb and sisters Ruby Butler and Ruth Riddle (Jay). Her father and mother-in-law, Herbert and Alice Kincaid. Sister in laws Jenny Tate (Charlie Mac), Millie Benfield (Bob) and Shirley Kincaid. Brother in laws Russell Kincaid (Betty Sue) and Sam Overcash.
The true joy and love of Lib’s life was her family. She is survived by her four children James (Jimmy) Norman Kincaid, Jr. (Susan), Sherry Barlow, Derek Kincaid (Tracey) and Bradley Kincaid (Becky). Her grandchildren, who could always count on her attendance at their many sports games and school activities AJ Barlow (Sharon), Justin Kincaid and Landon Kincaid. She was thrilled when her great grandchildren Emily, Madison, Allison and Alexander Barlow were born. Also surviving are Lib’s sister Irene Overcash, sister-in-law Ann Webb, brother-in-law Frank Kincaid and many nieces and nephews whom she loved. Lib’s love for her family will always be her legacy.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 2:00pm-3:00pm at Kirksey Funeral Home, Morganton NC. A celebration of Lib’s life will follow at 3:00pm in the Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home with Rev. Marty Bess officiating. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
