Donald Ray Harshaw

Donald Ray "Donnie Ray" Harshaw, age 67, of Morganton, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2023. He was born the son of the late Novella Brother Harshaw and Louise Wilkins Harshaw on December 15,1955 in Burke County.

Donnie Ray served his County honorably in the United States Marine Corps and worked as a welder at Contruction Attachment later in life.

Those left behind to cherish Donnie Ray's memory include a son, Derrick Martin and his partner, Michelle Scott of Morganton; four sisters, Kathy Harshaw, Wanda Harshaw, Lena Sudduth (all of Morganton) and Carolyn Sudduth of Mississippi; a brother, Nate Harshaw of Morganton; and a best friend, Jerry Brown of Morganton. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Kirksey Funeral Home. Donnie Ray will be laid to rest with Military Honors at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at the Western North Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain with the Rev. James Johnson officiating.
