Robert Dean Kelley

Bob graduated from Christian Brothers High and St. Louis University and then pursued a 23-year career with The United States Marine Corps retiring in 1977. One of his joys was attending an annual reunion with the Marines from C/1/4 with whom he served in Vietnam in 1966-67.

In 1969, Bob married his wife, Pat. He was a role model to his family always volunteering in his spare time. Since moving to California in the mid ‘80’s, he spent many hours at Fremont High, Sunnyvale, as an officer on the School Site Council, the Boosters Club and the fund-raising organization Super Schools. In the early 1990’s, Bob was a docent at Coe State Park in Morgan Hill, even writing a pamphlet about the park. He also served on the Santa Clara County Civil Grand Jury for two years and in the Office of Emergency Services. Later, he worked for the Office of Emergency Services for the cities of Cupertino and Morgan Hill, and for the Santa Clara County Water District. In recent years, he was an active docent at St. Joseph’s Cathedral, San Jose and spent joyful hours with his grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his wife, Helen (Pat) Kelley; daughters Debbie White (Brian), Robin Caldwell (John), and Shelly Kelley Kirley (Tim); grandchildren Lynda and Lisa Jones, J.P. and Bradley Caldwell, Colin and Rachel Kirley; great-grandchildren Rylee Jo and Jaycee Shelton; and brother Dennis Kelley. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Sr. Patricia Kelley C.C.V.I; infant brother Timothy Kelley; and son, Timothy Kelley.

A visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home in Morgan Hill on Monday, November 10, 2014 at 6 p.m. with service at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Morgan Hill on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 10 a.m. followed by a luncheon at Mama Mia’s Restaurant.
