Roland was a tug boat captain for 46 years. He started working at the age of 16 and worked his way up to captain. Although he worked for a few companies, he began and ended his career with LeBeouf Bros. Towing. Where there he was captain of the tugboat Sundowner. One day the Sundowner sank but Captain Roland was able to get his crew and self out safely, although he was not able to say the same for his Little Debbie cakes. The Sundowner was recovered, at which he continued to captain his crew until his retirement in 2003.
Roland’s greatest pride was being a provider for his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed telling jokes, listening to classic country and swamp pop music, doing word search, yard work, and cooking. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.
The Naquin family would like to give thanks to Dr. Scott Haydel and his staff, Terrebonne Homecare, and HL Haydel Memorial Hospice for all the care they provided.
