Johnny was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, and his dedication to his country was only surpassed by the love he had for his family. He was an avid Alabama football fan, reveling in every Roll Tide victory with immense pride. Johnny also found great joy in hunting, appreciating the peace and serenity that time spent in the outdoors brought him. A true fan of classic black and white westerns, he had a deep appreciation for life's simpler pleasures. Above all, Johnny was a devoted family man, and as a husband, he was extraordinary—his love and commitment cannot be fully expressed in words. Johnny’s legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Those left to cherish Johnny's beautiful memory is his wife of 50 years, Sharon Plessala Rhoades; his siblings, Russell Rhoades and his wife, Sharon and Douglas Rhoades and his wife, Janice; his nephews, David Rhoades and his wife, Amy, Alan Rhoades and his wife, Laura; and his nieces, Amy Rhoades,Laura Holmes, and Savannah Poole.He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Imogene Plessala and brother-in-law, Craig Plessala and his wife Dawn.
He was reunited in heaven with his daughter, Bria Rhoades; his parents, Johnnie Rhoades and Lois McWhorter; and his step father, Bobby McWhorter.
The family requests that a time of visitation and remembrance be observed for Johnny on Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 10am until time of services which will begin at 12noon at Hargrave Funeral Home. Following services, Johnny will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
