John Hartley…if you knew him, his name put a smile on your face. A loving, caring husband to his wife Karen, father & grandfather to all his children & grandchildren, & brother to all his siblings. The kindest heart to all. He was just a phone call away and friends were more like family.
John loved helping others, a jack of all trades. From serving this blessed country in Vietnam to serving his family & friends all his life with kindness, love, respect & compassion. John was diligent in treating people with respect & helping those in need. He worked most of his life as an auto mechanic, Air Conditioner/Electric technician. He also was a helicopter mechanic when he was in the Army. Working all his life to provide for his family, he never had a complaint about it.
John was activities director & board member of the Thibodaux Ham Radio Club (Bayou Region Amateur Radio Service) & once member of Morgan City Ham Radio Club. (Bayouland Emergency Amateur Radio Service), he loved this hobby & loved his fellow members. John would always lend a helping hand. He also loved fishing & shooting guns. The biggest hobby he had & loved the most was time with family & loved ones.
John loved his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ & is now with him & his heavenly reward.
John is loved by many & will be sadly missed by many more.
John is survived by his wife, Karen Hartley; six children, Beth (Aaron) Smith, Brian (Deanna Grill) Hartley, Krystal (Jeremy) Aucoin, Dustin (Cassidy) Grill, Dusty (Misty) Pierce, Brandon Pierce, Robbie (Marlin) Pierce; Grandchildren, Caitlyn, Brady Smith, Samantha (Jared) King, Brooklyn Hartley, Bradley, Christian Whittymore, Aspen, Payzlee, Keith Grille, Brittin, Braylyn Pierce, Jacob Pierce. He is also survived by four siblings, Linda Seay, Lisa (Joe) Neally, Jim Hartley and Laura (Andy) Anderson.
John is preceeded in death his parents; Johnny and Juanita Hartley.
Visitation for John will be Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 10:00 am following services at 11:00 at Hargrave Funeral Home. John will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
