Helen Price Daigle passed away peacefully in her sleep on Dec. 18, 2011 at the age of 83. She was the beloved wife of the late Allen Adam Daigle and devoted mother to a daughter, Dierdre Ann Daigle Guidroz who is married to Robert “Bobby” Guidroz of Bayou Vista, and a son, Jeffery Allen Daigle of Thibodaux, who is married to Connie Cheramie Daigle. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Otis Price, Sr. and Agnes Sauce Price and three brothers, Ernest, Lee Jr., and Eugene Price. She is survived by six brothers, three sisters, and two sister-in-laws. Her brothers and spouses are Franklin Price and wife Jackie, Merlin Price and wife Miriam, Wybra Price and wife Rose, Gerald Price and wife Barbara, Curtiss Price and wife Teresa, and Don Price with his wife Anna. Her sisters are Agnes Price Wright and husband James, Elizabeth “Libby” Price Allen and husband Earl, and Charline Price Pye with her husband, Anthony. Her sister-in-laws are Genevieve Price and Margie Price. Helen’s ten grandchildren are Belinda Guidroz Cochran and her husband, James, Robert “Robbie” Guidroz and wife Dawn, Nicholas Guidroz and partner Judy Walters, Brett Guidroz and partner, Malory Landry, Lauren Daigle Dugas and her husband David, Elizabeth Daigle, Natalie Daigle, Anna-Marie Daigle, Sara Cheramie Gravois and her husband Brandon, and Nicholas “Zach” Cheramie. Helen also had eight great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was the matriarch of her family and was very devoted to her siblings, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Helen Price Daigle was born on June 15, 1928 and lived her whole life in Morgan City, LA. She graduated from Morgan City High in 1946. She then attended Charity Nursing School in New Orleans, La and went on to practice nursing for many years thereafter. Helen was firm in her Methodist faith and a lifelong member of Pharr Chapel. She was married to Allen Adam Daigle on March 26, 1949 and they had a loving marriage for 57 years. During her life she was very civic-minded and was the first female juror in St. Mary Parish. She sat on the Recreational Board and the Board of Adjustments in service to her community. Helen was involved with Boy Scout Troop 44 for many years as she encouraged her son to achieve his Eagle Scout status. In addition, Helen was a longtime active member of AARP and was instrumental in getting Maison Jardin built in Morgan City. Helen loved reading, traveling and gardening. She was a loving wife and mother who will be missed by many.
A memorial visitation and service will be held at Pharr Chapel United Methodist Church in Morgan City on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011 from 9am until 11am. Entombment will follow in the Morgan City Mausoleum. Hargrave Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
