Barbara was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother whose life was dedicated to caring for those she loved. A true homemaker at heart, she poured her energy into creating a warm, loving home for her family. As a gifted seamstress, Barbara lovingly made clothes for her children and later crafted beautiful quilts for each of her grandbabies, stitching them with the same care and love she gave to every aspect of her life. She also created intricate porcelain dolls, dressing them in delicate garments that showcased her incredible attention to detail.
Her passion for arts and crafts filled her life with creativity, and she shared that joy with those around her. Above all, Barbara was a devoted Catholic, holding her faith close to her heart throughout her life.
A true force of nature, Barbara was strong-willed and determined. She knew what she wanted and pursued it with unwavering resolve, never backing down from what she believed in. Her tenacity and spirit remained with her until her very last days, a testament to the fierce love and determination that defined her. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, strength, and creativity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Those left to cherish Barbara's wonderful memory are her loving children, Karen Leonard and her husband, Dennis, Belinda Fontenot Cubbedge, Timothy Fontenot, Alton Fontenot Jr., and Melissa Harwell and her husband, Aaron; two sisters, Lourilla "Lou" Guidry and Carol Dominick; one brother, Burton Guidry and her grandchildren, Hope Cubbedge, Mickey Cubbedge Jr., Jessica Leonard, Rachel Lirette and her husband, Ralph, Kristin Countryman and her husband, Justin, Isaac Fontenot, Blake Fontenot, Ethan Harwell and his wife, Jami, Sara Beth Harwell, Emma Grace Harwell, and Scarlett Rose Harwell. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Fontenot Sr.; her father, Jack Paul Guidry and her mother, Colone Thibodeaux Guidry.
The family requests that a time of visitation and remembrance be observed on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 9am until time of services which will begin promptly at 12noon at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City, LA. Following the services, Barbara will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
