Raoul R Tapia
April 29, 1933 – December 7, 2022
On Wednesday, December 7th, 2022, Raoul R. Tapia, dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away. He was eighty-nine years old. Born to Belen Rubio and Joaquin Tapia, Raoul made a name for himself in many places: having gainful employment at a family-owned animal farm in Lancaster, finishing high school, dancing, entertaining, and attending beauty school in Hollywood, as well as working for an awning company and becoming a business owner for most of his adult life. He did all of these ventures with pride before working for 14 years as a Maintenance Mechanic at Riverside Community College District, RCC and MVC. He was brave, adventurous, trustworthy, and thoughtful. His generous spirit extended to all who crossed his path and to those who needed it. He was dedicated to the Catholic faith and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
His legacy is succeeded by a family made up of his beautiful wife, Alfa, his two sons, Raoul Jr. and Patrick, and his daughters, Sandra, Carol, and Leslie, as well as his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Raoul and Alfa shared the joy of life, love, and prosperity together for fifty-two years. Raoul’s love of science-fiction was unparalleled as he regularly watched the Syfy channel and held a deep admiration for the earliest renditions of Star Wars and Star Trek. He was a world traveler, having explored many places including Italy, Alaska, Mexico, and historical sites throughout the United States. Raoul could master anything he put his mind to, and he was a skilled artist that passed on his love of creation to his descendants, as they are also artists and creators in their own right.
He will be remembered most for his love of dancing, music, and his unfettered kindness to all.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 19th, 2022 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Moreno Valley. The Rosary will begin at 12:00 p.m., followed by the Mass at 12:30pm, and then internment at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery in Colton, CA at 2:30 p.m. Thank-you for helping us remember the fearless yet kind Raoul R. Tapia.
