Joseph Emanuel Pierson of Moreno Valley, California, was born September 22, 1933, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, the son of Joseph Emanuel Pierson, Sr, and Mabel (Pendergast) Pierson. On the morning of May 1, 2023, Joseph was called Home to be with His Heavenly Father.
When he was nine years old, his parents moved to Los Angeles, California. Not long after completing High School, Joseph served in the U.S. Army from April 14, 1953, to May 9, 1955. After his tour of duty, he met and married his beloved Doris Evelyn Hunt on May 26, 1955. In May of this year, 2023, the two would have celebrated 68 years of marriage. Joseph and several of his childhood friends formed a Social Club known as the Yard Birds. Joseph and his wife, Doris, were, for a time, supporters of the Jolly Couple Social Club.
In addition to his parents, Joseph is predeceased by two sisters, Cecilia Langrum and Patricia Weinberg. Surviving in addition to his wife, Doris (Hunt) Pierson, are his sons, Joseph E. Pierson, III of Los Angeles, California, and Ronald Pierson of Atlanta, Georgia, and three grandchildren, two grandsons, and one granddaughter.
Growing up, Joseph pursued several passions: football, tennis, and ice skating. Joseph was a skilled draftsman, a skill that served him well in several of his jobs, especially his business as a Cabinet Maker. He was also known for his prodigious memory and creative aptitude. He was unselfish with his time and generous to a flaw when it came to sharing or helping those who found themselves in a difficult situation.
A visitation for Joseph will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Miller Jones Mortuary and Crematory, 23618 Sunnymead Blvd, Moreno Valley, CA 92553. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 23618 Sunnymead Blvd, Moreno Valley, CA 92553. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92518. A reception will occur Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, 23618 Sunnymead Blvd, Moreno Valley, CA 92553.
