Jim Lee Griffin, 92, of Riverside, California, was finally reunited with the love of his life on January 26, 2023. His beloved wife of 68 years, Gloria Lee (Morris) Griffin, died in 2021, and Jim spent the last two years talking about how much he was looking forward to seeing her again.
Jim lived a long, happy life and died peacefully in his sleep from congestive heart failure. He is survived by two children, James Griffin, and Ronald Griffin, (Debora), five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, a sister, Diana Sarenana (Richard) and a brother, Robert Griffin (Fran). Jim is predeceased by his father, Leonard A. Griffin, his mother, Dorothy E. Ross, and ten brothers and sisters.
Jim joined the Navy at 18 and served for ten years, at which time he joined the Air Force for another ten years working as an illustrator. He retired from the military at 38 and went on to work various jobs until he ended up retiring as a bus driver for the school district. Jim enjoyed assisting in the first group of the Hemet Police volunteers. Later, he became passionate about performing multi-branch Color Guard duties at Riverside National Cemetery.
Visitation and Services will be held at Miller Jones Mortuary and Crematory, 23618 Sunnymead Boulevard, Moreno Valley, on February 23, 2023 beginning at 10:30 am. to 1:30 pm. Committal Services will be held at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside beginning at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wounded Warrior Family Support, an organization Jim felt strongly about and gave to regularly.
