Stella was born on October 29, 1929, in Brooklyn, NY, to Alexander and Mary (Malak) Rudy. She was a proud graduate of Hendrick Hudson High School in 1947, where she was the captain of the cheerleading squad. Stella met the love of her life, James F. “Nook” Anstett, and they were married on September 23, 1950. Their 69-year marriage was a testament to their unwavering love and commitment to each other.
Stella worked for Fleishmann's as a typist and clerk but devoted much of her time to her family and community. She was an active member of Sts. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, where she went to Mass daily and served as the bookkeeper. For many years, she ran the church's Tuesday Bingo, and her dedication to her faith and community was evident to all who knew her.
A true homemaker at heart, Stella also helped look after her grandchildren and was a constant presence of love and support. She and Jim enjoyed many happy years traveling to camping resorts across the country, eventually settling in a campground near Lake George, where they spent time together collecting souvenirs that her great-grandchildren continue to hold dear.
Stella was predeceased by her beloved husband, James F. Anstett, in September 2019. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Ann Anstett in 1959. Stella is survived by her loving son, Ronald Anstett, and his wife, Barbara, as well as her cherished grandchildren, James Anstett and Deana Longden (Matt), and her great-granddaughters, Tessa and Shelby Longden. She is also survived by her brother, Dan Rudy (Donna).
Stella will be remembered for her deep faith, her kindness, and her devotion to her family. Her legacy of love and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the caring staffs of The Vassar Warner Home in Poughkeepsie and Robinson Terrace Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Stamford NY for their compassion and care during the past several years.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 170 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose, NY. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 AM, with burial at Assumption Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Jim.
May Stella's soul rest in peace, and may her memory be eternal.
