Jean was born on April 27, 1924 and grew up in the Bronx, where she married the love of her life, the late Alfred Pippa, in 1943 while he was home on a short leave during WWII. They were happily married for 77 years. Together they raised four children in the Bronx and Yonkers before moving to Croton-on-Hudson in 2012 to live closer to family.
Before her retirement, Jean thoroughly enjoyed working as a sales clerk in Alexander's Department Store in both their Bronx and Yonkers locations, chatting with and helping customers choose the perfect formal dresses and gowns for special occasion events.
The simplest pleasures in life brought much joy to Jean over the years, whether it was sharing her delicious homemade Italian meals and desserts with friends and family, dancing to swing music, knitting, reading novels, or watching her favorite television shows and movies. She was a dedicated chocoholic who loved feeding and caring for everyone in her life.
Jean is survived by her four loving children, Stephen (Rosalie), Pamela (Joseph) Pieroni, Gregory (Catherine), and Gary (Sandra); her dear grandchildren, Stephen, Jr., Paul (Lisa), Eric (Kaitlyn), Sienna, Thomas, Victoria, and Tristan; and her great-grandchildren, Vincent and Anthony.
Visitation will be held at the Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 170 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose, NY, Monday, 2/27/23 from 10 am – 12 pm, immediately followed by a short service on-site. Entombment to follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley, NY.
In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to honor Jean Pippa's memory may do so with a donation of any amount to her Alzheimer's Association Tribute Page.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.efcarter.com for the Pippa family.
