Have many fond childhood memories of Dennis, Joseph, Madeline and Gloria (neighbors across the street) as we all played outside on Hull Ave in the Bronx.  Many great stickball games were played right in front of the Flicks Family Home. 

Would love to tell many more good memories of Dennis. Rest in peace my friend. God bless

Dennis,  I can't believe that a year has already passed since you left us to join that Great Big Rock Band in heaven.  There is a void, a big hole in all of our hearts since your gone. I prayed everyday that you would be strong enough to fight and get over your illness and just when I thought we were seeing a light at the end of the tunnel, you were dealt another blow that you couldn't recover from.  It hurt to watch you those last 6 months unable to care for yourself or speak to us. I prayed everyday that you weren't suffering or in pain and for God to have mercy on your soul when we were told that there was no hope of your recovery.  I miss you, we all do.  I miss your smile , your laugh, your jokes and antics, your kind heart, your love for animals, willingness to help others when you could, your unique perspective and views on life and the world, especially your brother to sister advice on moving on after Lou passed away.  I so mush appreciated and will always be grateful for the help you offered and gave me during the months Lou was sick and after with working on the house and cleaning it out to be able to sell and move, as well as the days you and Joseph would come all the way down to Brooklyn to help me get settled into my new place.  There is only one problem.  What am I going to do when I need someone to climb a ladder or go on the roof - or should I say, what is Joseph going to do without you here to do it. I know I'm going to have to hire someone.  
I have always admired your musical talents and always wished that I had learned to play an instrument so maybe I could have jammed with you sometimes. I wish I could have seen you play and in your element more than I did and I'm sorry my kids didn't get to see you playing on a stage. I know they would have loved seeing their Uncle Dennis playing the drums in a rock band. You were a natural born drummer.  I loved listening to you and watching you on stage at "The Chance", it was awesome.  I hoped that that was going to be your big break to bigger and better things. I never told you this, I looked into The Rock  Roll Fantasy Camp to see if I could surprise you and send you to the camp as a gift. When I learned how expensive it was and couldn't afford to do it on my own, I entered their contest to try to win you a place in the camp.  Unfortunately I didn't win, I'm so sorry, I wish I could have made that happen for you. I know you would have loved to spend a week, side by side, with some of the rock n roll greats that are there to help your rock n roll fantasy come true, playing and jammin' together.  I guess my letter about you and why you deserved a chance to be there wasn't convincing enough.  
I miss you. It's not the same when I drive up to Montrose to visit with mom and dad and not see you there.  Mom and dad are doing ok, but miss you tremendously. Even though mom use to yell and complain a lot she loved having you near by and I know dad misses his partner in the shop everyday.  
You're now in your new eternal home living life free of sickness and pain, with family and friends that have gone before you, who I know were there to welcome you with open arms. You are now forever making music and jammin' with that great rock band in the heavens along side some of your favorite rockers that were there before you. God's band must have needed a great drummer and now he has you. Watch over us from time to time.

Dennis, I always admired your musical talent and your take on life. I will always remember the fun times we had and your kind heart for others.  Enjoy the peace and kindness that comes with eternal life and have fun with your friends and family members that have gone before you.

I am so sorry for your loss.  Dennis will always be part of my cherished youth.  What wonderful memories I have of growing up with him and  spending 8 years with him in a tiny classroom in St. Ann's and having fun in the "playground."  I can still see him playing basketball and even at that age he loved the drums!  May the many memories you have of Dennis bring you comfort in your time of grief.
