Antonio Campea, 87, of Verplanck, NY, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2024. Born in Bussi (Abruzzese: Busce), Italy, on March 4, 1937, Antonio was the son of the late Nicola and Maria Campea (Traditi). He grew up during World War II in Italy and immigrated to Ossining, NY, in the early 1950s, building a life rooted in family and hard work.
In 1960, Antonio married the love of his life, Catherine Campea (Serafino). Their 64 years of marriage were a testament to their deep bond and commitment to family. Together, they raised their children Bruno (Patricia), Mauro, and Anthony (Carrie Cooper) with love, and a devoted grandfather, lovingly called Nonno, to Mark Campea, Nicole Riccio (Christopher), Cecilia, and Luciano Campea. He was also blessed to be the great-grandfather of Nico Riccio. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Mauro Campea, and his cherished grandson, Mark Campea.
Antonio was a dedicated and self-employed businessman, operating a Wise Potato Chip route through Mt. Kisco, Armonk, Chappaqua, Pound Ridge, and Bedford. His work ethic and friendly nature left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Antonio’s passions extended beyond his career. He had a deep love for classical music, often filling his home with its melodies. He enjoyed watching soccer and was a skilled player in his youth. A true Italian at heart, Antonio found joy in making wine in his cellar, sharing this cherished tradition with his family.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, September 27, 2024, at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at St. Patrick’s Church in Verplanck, NY. He will be laid to rest at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
Antonio will be remembered for his devotion to family, his love of life, and the beautiful traditions he passed down. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories. May he rest in eternal peace.
