A devoted husband to JoAnn Marie Berg and a loving father to their daughter, Lee. Tom leaves behind his sister, Mary. He is reunited with his parents, James Anthony Mallon and Margaret Mary Mallon (née Boland), proud Irish immigrants from County Meath and County Sligo. Tom’s memory is also lovingly held by his many relatives in Ireland.
Born on April 13, 1958, in N.D.G., Tom was a first-generation Canadian who valued his heritage and community. He graduated from Loyola High School in 1975, excelling in sports, particularly hockey, which remained a central part of his life. In 1985, he earned a diploma in mechanical technology from Dawson College.
Tom and JoAnn met through mutual friends and married in 1992 at St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish in N.D.G. Together, they shared 33 years and raised their daughter, Lee. Over his career, Tom worked with Bombardier and Air Canada before establishing his own businesses, where he applied his skills as a mechanical technologist.
Tom’s love of cars began at a young age and grew into a lifelong passion for building hot rods. This pursuit brought him immense joy and introduced him to a vibrant community of friends, as he traveled to car shows and hot rod events. He was the type of person that would help others to a fault, always generous with his time and kindness. Tom was deeply valued by his friends, particularly his hockey teammates in N.D.G., with whom he shared many memorable years.
