With tears in our eyes and sorrow in our hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Peter. He endured cancer with courage and a positive attitude until the end. He leaves to mourn his lovely, caring wife and soul mate Sylvia Hrycyn. He was the son of the late Florence Smiley and Arthur Noonan of Perth, Ontario. Survived by his dear sister Heather (John McGrath) and his nephew Darcy (Erin White) of Pembroke, Ontario. Peter was cherished by Sylvia's family, nieces Susan Freitag (Arthur Honsberger) and Sandra, sisters Rose and Natalie and brother Bill-Myron. He was blessed with many loyal and devoted friends with whom he spent many good times with lots of laughs.
Peter had a remarkable and brilliant flying career. He served in the Royal Canadian Airforce as a F/O Sabre pilot 430 Squadron-2 wing from 1956- 1962 in Moosejaw and in Gimli. In 1958 he flew Nato missions in Grostenquin, France. In 1963 he joined Air Canada and had an adventurous, wonderful career for 28 years, and retired on the 767 as captain. Peter and Sylvia continued to enjoy the comaraderie through many fun and memorable SPAADS and Air Canada reunions.
Peter had a rich and full life. He was an avid golfer, (Richard and Ralph will miss him). He enjoyed fishing, skiing, country music and cross word puzzles, a cold Kilkenny with Louis and Carol, B.B.Q's up at the cottage on Golden Lake, Val David, and holiday dinners with Susie and Arthur. He will always be remembered as a kind, generous, intelligent, charming, tall handsome man with sparkling blue eyes and an infectious smile. We lost an honorable man. Those who knew him loved him.
Very special thanks to Dr. C. Shustik, Dr. Barbara, Brigitte and Fabiola, the oncology team, and the 6M staff at the Royal Victoria Hospital. Peter died at peace after receiving the last rites from Father Schulz of Holy Name of Jesus Parish. Thank you for all the prayers.
Sylvia always had hope that her Peter would come home to her, but he was called home to the Father.
May he rest in peace.
