Lorna Flanagan (née Haines), talented musician and loving Aunt passed away on August 20, 2017 at the age of 88. Lorna Rosalind, former organist at St Cuthbert’s Anglican Church, Park Extension, was born to Ernest and Constance Haines on May 2, 1929. She survived a childhood illness being one of the first recipients of penicillin in Montreal in 1944. Unable to finish her studies at Montreal High School owing to her illness, she later persevered and obtained her high school certification at Sir George Williams College and then went on to complete a degree in Liberal Arts at Concordia University. In 1957 she married Dr. James Cyril Flanagan (deceased 1994), farmer, dentist and founding member of the NDP formerly CCF. She lived with her husband in Montreal and Arundel, Quebec.
She was a loving sister to three younger brothers: Sonny (Neville) & Howard (both deceased) and Grendon. She took an active interest in the lives of her nieces Carolyn (deceased), Jenny and Rowena, nephews David, Richard and Dylan; grand nieces Jessica, Sabrina and Zoe, and grand nephews, Victor, Jeremy, Olivier, Connor, Teryn and Joshua.
In the last weeks of her life she benefitted from the expert care of staff at the Lasalle Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the hospital fund.
