It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Jojo, who left us at the age of 99—a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Jojo was an award-winning artist who added colour and texture to all our lives. She studied under the Group of Seven's Arthur Lismer and later graduated with her BFA at 50. She had an insatiable curiosity fuelled by travelling the world and documenting her adventures through drawings, paintings and photography. A voracious reader who loved to ask provocative questions, eager to listen, learn something new, and always had to have a project on the go
Jojo, a connoisseur of a proper dry martini and family wisdom, lived by two sacred rules passed down through generations: If you must wear a baseball cap —keep it outdoors! And for heaven's sake, if you're going to drink beer, pour it into a glass like a civilized human. Some traditions are worth preserving!
Pre-deceased by her loving husband, Matthew Kenneth Fitzpatrick, she leaves behind their three children: Gail, Michael, Claire-Louise and their spouses, Wayne, Harriet (deceased) and Gordon. Her love and spirit will live on through her grandchildren and great-grandchildren Pamela (Seth), Kenneth (Stacey), Brendan (deceased), Colin (Vy), Brad, Blake, Sophie and Leo.
We will celebrate Jojo's life and art on November 22nd from 2-5 pm at Westmount One, 4800 Cote St Luc Rd, Montréal, H3W 3H9.
Instead of flowers, we kindly welcome donations in her honour to the McCord Stewart Museum.
