Early that morning, the clouds lifted and God decided his suffering was over and ushered him into heaven.
Born on February 14, 1937, Joe emigrated from Italy to Canada at 22 years old. He carried with him a one-way ticket to Canada, $130 dollars, a hammer and the determination to build a better life for himself and one day his family. And he did just that.
He was a gifted and talented woods craftsman. He could take an ordinary piece of wood and transform it into a work of art or a family heirloom cherished by all. He was most proud of the family home he built with his own two hands and everything he built inside of it.
He was always eager to show family or guests his creations, from chairs, tables, kitchen, bedroom sets, closets to outdoor gazebos. There was never a project he said “No” to. In fact, the more difficult the design, the more his talent grew and so did the appreciation of his talent from clients and family.
While he struggled to voice his affection, it was his actions that proved where his true love rested. He was always available when a family member or friend needed something built even in his eighties.
He will be remembered for his strong voice, his incredible craftsmanship and dedication to family.
He leaves to mourn his devoted wife Elena of 59 years of marriage. His children Lucia, Isabella, Donato and Gabriella and his grandchildren Audrey, Joseph and James. As well as his sister Ermelinda, family members and friends.
A funeral will be held on July 21, 1pm and visiting hours start on July 20 5pm-9pm.
