One of the pioneering women of her generation, Ann graduated from McGill with a B.A. and a Bachelor’s in Library Science. Her popularity was highlighted when she was voted Queen of the Winter Carnival.
She went on to work at the Redpath Library and the Bank of Montreal before marrying the love of her life, Kevin Reynolds, in 1955. Thereafter, Ann began the stage of her life that she most excelled in, raising her four children. Ann was always keenly interested in their accomplishments and those of her eleven grandchildren, including their education, jobs, partners and sporting activities.
Ann also took time out of this important part of her life to serve her community. She succeeded her late sister, Marlee Cairns, as President of the Junior League, and later, her daughter Allyson became President, a very unique succession! Then she was instrumental in the opening of one of the first daycare centres, Garderie Jeanne-Mance and became the President.
She and Kevin were keen travellers, cycling in North America and Europe. Birdwatching then became a passion, with trips from the Arctic to South America.
Ann’s happiest times were with the family at their home in Mont Tremblant, where she enjoyed cross-country and downhill skiing and perhaps tennis even more. Her time with Kevin at their home in Florida was also treasured, where she was an active decoupage artist, rug hooker, and an important member of the “Stitch and Bitch” group in Boca Grande. Home decorators on the island insisted on her decoupage lamps when decorating homes.
Ann was also an entrepreneur, selling her works of decoupage and owning a store, Les Ciseaux Magique, on Victoria Avenue in Westmount, where she taught aspiring decoupage artists and sold them supplies.
She is survived by her husband Kevin, her four children: Rosalind (Tom Davis) and their children Courtney (Les), Jessica (Rob) and Brett (Grace); Rod (Nancy) and their children Galen (Nicole), Garrett and Scott (Mari); Allyson (Elvio Cesari) and their children Nicholas (Amanda) and Michael; and Blythe (Glynne Ennis) and their children Noah, Teagan and Trevor; and by her seven great grandchildren.
Ann was the daughter of Dr. John S. Dohan and Juliette Timmins and was predeceased by her sister Marlee and her brothers John and David.
